Special Session on Bio-Medical Data Analysis

BMDA 2011 will provide a general forum for disseminating the latest research on neural computing techniques applied in biomedicine and bioinformatics. It is a multidisciplinary session that brings together academic and industrial scientists from computer science, biology, medicine, mathematics and statistics. BMDA will exchange research results and address open issues in the aspects of neural information processing on applications of bioinformatics and biomedicine and provide a forum for the presentation of work in databases, algorithms, interfaces, visualization, modeling, simulation, ontology and other computational methods, as applied to life science problems, with emphasis on applications in high throughput data-rich areas in biology, biomedical engineering.

We solicit high-quality original research papers (including significant work-in-progress) in any aspect neural computing applied on bioinformatics and biomedicine. New computational techniques and methods in neural computing and heir application in life science domain are especially encouraged.

Topics of interest include but not limited to:

        Prof. Jie Yang received Ph.D. at Department of Computer Science, University of Hamburg, Germany. Now he is the Director of Institute of Image Processing and Pattern recognition in Shanghai Jiao Tong University. He is the principal investigator of more than 30 national and ministry scientific research projects in image processing, pattern recognition, data mining, and artificial intelligence, and five international cooperative projects with France, Korea, Japan, New Zealand. He has published more than four hundreds of articles in national or international academic journals and conferences. He has awarded five research achievement prize from ministry of Education, China and Shanghai municipality, owned 18 patents.

        Guo-Zheng Li is Professor with College of Electronics & Information Engineering at Tongji University, Head of Levis Group, Executive Committee Member and Associate Secretary of CAAI Machine Learning Society, Committee Member of CCF Artificial Intelligence and Pattern Recognition Society and ORSC Computational Biology Society, Associate Information Director of ACM-SIG Bioinformatics. He obtained his Ph.D. degree from Institute of Image Processing & Pattern Recognition, Shanghai Jiao Tong University in 2004. Dr. Li is interested in pattern recognition and bio-medical data mining. He is Associate Editor of IJMLC JCIB and IJCIBSB, Editor on Board of IJDMB, JETWI, IJCBDD, IJAISC and IJFIPM, Program co-Chair of IJCBS09, ITCM10. He has obtained Best paper award at PRICAI 2006 and BIBE 2007, Shanghai Young Rising Star (2008), The First Class Award of TCM Science & Technology by Shanghai Society of TCM (2010).
